Thank you to all who supported my campaign. It’s been an amazing opportunity to learn about the successes and challenges of schools and their families in District Four.
From my initial conversations with education and community leaders who I greatly admire who offered encouragement … to Tonya Jameson and Aisha Dew who patiently explained that an education policy wonk doth not a candidate make … to my ‘kitchen cabinet’ of amazing community organizers, passionate educators, and past and present Board members … to the two dozen stalwart allies who stood in the rain on Election Day asking voters for their support … and especially to Lydia & Tom (Sawyer) … I am grateful.
The work ahead is daunting. There is no quick fix to solve the challenges of a public school system that serves ALL students. And schools are just part of an interlocked array of issues, especially affordable housing, that too often block opportunity.
I look forward to working in cooperation with fellow CMS Board members, County Commission, City Council, and all residents to build a better Charlotte-Mecklenburg for ALL.
